Magdalene Szuszkiewicz-Garcia, MD
Dr. Szuszkiewicz-Garcia joined Thyroid Endocrinology and Diabetes in 2014 and is currently accepting new patients in the Mansfield location.
She is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism.
Dr Szuszkiewicz-Garcia grew up in Maryland. After attending Loyola University in Baltimore for her undergraduate degree, she graduated from University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Washington Hospital Center-Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Szuszkiewicz-Garcia came to Texas to receive further training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the prestigious University of TX Southwestern Medical Center. Both she and her husband fell in love with Texas and decided to stay and teach at the UT Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Szuszkiewicz-Garcia has published groundbreaking research on insulin resistance and diabetes. Steve Fordan, MD FACE FACP
Dr. Fordan is the Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of Thyroid, Endocrinology, and Diabetes, PA. He sees patients primarily in the Dallas office.
He fulfilled his undergraduate studies at Yale University, majoring in Biology. He performed a research fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He also completed his residency training in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Fordan trained in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He is also certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Fordan is active in many medical societies including the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Thyroid Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He has been awarded the distinction of Fellow by the American College of Endocrinology as well as Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Fordan believes in imparting his knowledge to the next generation of health care providers. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and also serves as volunteer faculty in the Methodist Hospital internal medicine residency training program.
Dr. Fordan has extensive research experience. In addition to his research studies at Yale and Harvard, he has also studied idiopathic short stature at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. At the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, he specialized in clinical diabetes research, including his own investigator-initiated trial examining the effects of diabetes control on hospital outcomes. Currently he is the Primary Investigator on several studies in the field of cholesterol, diabetes, and thyroid cancer.
His research has allowed him to author many peer-reviewed journal articles. As a recognized expert, Dr. Fordan reviews articles and complex cases from other endocrinologists across the nation. He has received many awards including being recognized in the Guide to America's Top Physicians by the Consumers' Research Council of America for 2010-15 He was named by D Magazine as a Best Doctor in Dallas for 2013-15.
Dr. Fordan is extremely active in the community. He has founded numerous community organizations. These include an organization to promote scheduled dialysis to those in need, Yale’s first pre-medical service organization, and a run-away mentoring program. He has taken a leadership role in several organizations including Best Buddies as well as coordinating blood drives. He is also an active participant in his church, visiting the sick and homebound, and has taught children’s religious education for many years. Dr. Fordan currently resides in the Dallas area with his wife and four children. He enjoys mountain biking, playing the guitar, and driving his Corvette at the local track.
